It's a blog post

It’s been quite a while since my last posting on here, real life has taken over and the world of yester-year has taken a back seat somewhat.
First off, one of our friends and inspirations for the site, was taken ill and then sadly passed.
An avid fan of things we all used to have, if from a little time before me, he had built up such a vast archive of models, magazines and treasures, that his home was creaking with them all.

A regular, “Look after this for me!” he loved models, there wasn’t much about old engines/carriages that he didn’t know. A font of knowledge because he not only gathered them in great abundance, but also rode them in his younger days.

Sadly, his family did not share his hobby and as so often is the case, the vast numbers and varieties of models were sold off to a, “We buy models” business. Four van-loads was required to clear the carefully wrapped and tub stored world of the past, going right back to the 40s and 50s.

I personally miss him for the laughs, the insights and his sheer enthusiasm for things that we used to have.

So what else has been happening?

Well my collection continues now and again. I still visit the occasional toyfair, the prices are still a bit steep and rarely now do I come across people genuinely having a clear-out.
Dealers are the order of the day everywhere these days, which is a shame.
My own gatherings have been a little more varied, but still good fun.

There are more posts to come, working on more viewing, alongside some very interesting tangents.
Be well people.
